Thomas Civik is now permanent chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Pyxis Oncology, effective September 4, 2026. Civik had served as the clinical-stage company’s interim CEO since February and had been a board member since 2021.\n\nThe appointment consolidates the operating and boardroom roles under an executive already familiar with Pyxis’s business. It also changes the role of co-founder John Flavin, who moves from founding chairman to lead independent director and remains on the board.\n\nFrom interim stewardship to permanent mandate\n\nPyxis’s board said it had full confidence in Civik’s leadership as the company advances its clinical-stage organization. Civik’s earlier work included executive roles in life sciences and investment banking, according to the company release. Flavin’s new position preserves a direct governance role for a founder while adding a clearer independent-leadership structure.\n\nMarketWatch independently reported Civik’s appointment, and Pyxis Oncology’s investor-relations release confirmed the effective date and the board changes. The company did not announce a separate successor for Civik’s interim CEO role because the same executive moved into the permanent position.
