Jeremy Fox-Geen plans to step down as chief financial officer of Circle Internet Group, the stablecoin company said as it laid out a transition through the end of 2026. Reuters reported the change, and Circle’s investor-relations announcement says Fox-Geen will remain CFO through December 31 or until a successor is appointed sooner.
Circle has begun a search with an executive-search firm and has not named the replacement. Fox-Geen, who joined Circle’s leadership during a period of rapid public-market growth, said he plans to take a break before his next chapter. CEO Jeremy Allaire credited him with helping build the company’s financial foundation and supporting its public-company transition.
A planned handoff, not a same-day exit
The timetable gives Circle room to separate departure from replacement. Fox-Geen will support a smooth transition, and the company’s filing says the move was not caused by a disagreement with its operations, policies or practices. In a separate governance change, co-founder Sean Neville resigned from the board effective immediately for personal reasons.
That pairing makes the announcement more than a routine executive vacancy, but it is still a managed process rather than a sudden break. The next concrete marker is the appointment of the new CFO; until then, Circle keeps continuity in finance while refreshing part of its founding-era governance. It is a different kind of handoff from AllianceBernstein’s staged CEO succession, but both put the calendar at the center of leadership work.
