AIA Group will appoint Edward Moncreiffe as Regional Chief Executive on November 2, with responsibility for India, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand. He will join the Group Executive Committee and report to Group Chief Executive and President Lee Yuan Siong, AIA said in its announcement.
Moncreiffe joins from HSBC Group, where he most recently served as Chief Executive Officer, Insurance. AIA says he oversaw life and health insurance across Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, Singapore, India, Malta, Bermuda and Mexico, alongside insurance distribution units globally. He previously led HSBC Life in Hong Kong and Macau. The South China Morning Post reported that he resigned from HSBC’s group insurance role in August after 20 years with the company.
The remit is broad geographically: four AIA businesses, spanning South Asia and Oceania, will sit under one regional chief. Moncreiffe’s prior portfolio already covered markets across Asia, Europe and Latin America, according to the company. Moncreiffe takes up the role on November 2. AIA’s announcement names his remit, reporting line and executive committee seat; it does not announce additional leadership changes alongside the appointment.
