Lamda Development names Evi Kostaki its next CEO

Lamda Development will hand its chief executive role to Evi Kostaki on January 1, 2027. She will succeed Odysseas Athanasiou, who is due to complete 18 years as CEO at the end of December. Kathimerini and Debater.gr report the appointment and the planned handover.

Kostaki most recently served as chief financial officer and an executive-committee member at Julius Baer from July 2022 through August 2026. She is also a director of Titan America and serves on its audit and risk committee. Her career spans more than 25 years and includes senior work in finance, investment management and corporate leadership. Lamda is therefore bringing in an executive with a finance background to lead a property developer whose next phase includes both completing projects under way and operating the Ellinikon development.

Athanasiou’s departure is planned rather than sudden. He told the company’s controlling Latsis family in September 2025 that he hoped to complete his tenure within the following 12 to 15 months, with the first phase of Ellinikon as a milestone. He will leave the CEO position on December 31 after 21 years with the company, including 18 as chief executive, and move into an advisory role at Consolidated Lamda Holdings, the group’s major shareholder.

That timing gives the organization a defined transition window. Athanasiou has said he will assist his successor as needed, while Kostaki is expected to take responsibility for the company’s ongoing developments and the operation of Ellinikon. The available reporting does not describe a change in ownership or a change in the company’s corporate purpose. It describes a leadership succession after a long tenure, with the outgoing CEO remaining connected to the shareholder and the incoming CEO taking over at the start of the new year.

The move also offers a useful contrast with Eurazeo’s recent consolidation of its executive-board leadership. Both are European companies changing the shape of top leadership, but Lamda’s announcement is more explicitly staged: a long-serving chief exits at year-end, an incoming CEO is named ahead of the date, and the handoff is tied to projects already in progress.

For readers, the important date is January 1, 2027. Kostaki is not simply being identified as a future successor; the company has announced when she will take over and what work will pass to her. The near-term question is practical rather than speculative: how the current project portfolio, especially Ellinikon, moves from construction toward operation under a new CEO.
