Nissan Motor Ibérica names Eduard Moreno general manager

Nissan Motor Ibérica has named Eduard Moreno Castells as its next director general, effective January 1, 2027. Expansión and El Nacional’s ON ECONOMIA reported the appointment. Moreno currently directs Nissan’s Technical Center in Barcelona and will succeed Javier Vila Diego, who is due to retire at the end of December.

The timing makes this a planned internal handoff rather than an external search. Vila will leave after more than 32 years at Nissan, while Moreno arrives with over two decades inside the company. The reports describe the next leadership period as a continuation of the current operating model; they do not announce a change to the structure of the Spanish business.

Moreno’s background is concentrated in engineering and technology development. During his Nissan career, he has held positions in powertrain, project management, electronic engineering, autonomous driving, and connected-vehicle services. His responsibilities have covered work in Spain and internationally. The company’s reporting points to that technical profile and internal knowledge as the context for the appointment, but does not set out a new product or investment mandate for him.

His remit as director general will include institutional representation of Nissan Motor Ibérica. That is distinct from a wholesale change in day-to-day operating leadership: the company intends to retain its existing management model. The announcement does not identify a new reporting line or describe changes to Moreno’s current technical-center responsibilities before the January handover.

The sequence is straightforward: Moreno remains in his current assignment through year-end, Vila retires on December 31, and the new role begins the following day. Our recent coverage of Maersk’s planned Mexico director-general appointment offers a separate example of a company-level leadership handoff scheduled for 2027. The two appointments are unrelated; each reflects a named transition at a country or regional operating unit.
